Russ's New Years Drive

Thought I'd share a little family tradition with my truckbuddies today - come on, get in the truck, let's go see what the world looks like in the new year. I'll show you some of Texas, the Red River, and some big doings up in Oklahomo . . . as we call it in these parts.

But notice I was smiling when I said that, friends. Don't you Sooner boys take no offense, just a little neighborly joshing.

And yes I know what you Sooners say about Texas, too. Especially when the OU-UT game is on.

And boys, here's what you wish you had for dinner this New Year's Day:

Nice truck ride, Russ!
Reminds me of a time back in about 1979 when I drove my old VW bug back from the east coast. I went through OK and TX, near Amarillo and on over into NM. It was late November, and the roads were a sheet of ice. Froze my ass off because the heater in the VW wasn't working right.

It's interesting that the casino industry run by the Native American groups has come into being. There are some large casinos just north of Santa Fe, NM, and there are some in southwest CO, managed by the Ute Nation. I'm not much of a gambler, but I agree that it is a good thing for them.

That would be a great ideal. Why don't we go sometime to go play the slots. I have won most times when I have gone there.
Love the meal, Mr Julia. Seems yummy.
Hugs
Ray

Thanks for the cool pictures. It looks quite flat there. (I live in a place surrounded by mountains and hills.) The Red River looks very pretty. I have never been to Texas or Oklahoma but my dad spend time in both places during the war. He is 86 now.

OMG! Texas is so WIDE OPEN! All that open space I wouldn't know how to act Russ. I live in NJ the most densely populated state so you can imagine how I feel. You can't spit here without hittin' something or somebody.
We have Atlantic City for gambling here but that's run by the mob mostly I think. I'm too poor to gamble but a lot of folks still do regardless. Fools!
Thanks for the ride and that meal looked real good. I love the way you talk! Nice house and truck you have there buddy!

'Preciate ya, Stan. We got plenty of elbow room down here. Some parts of Texas, you feel like you're in a bigger world. We like it that way.

"Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above, / Don't fence me in. / Let me ride through the wide open country that I love, / Don't fence me in . . . ."
