Along Party Lines

I used to have a party line when I lived in Cornwall. I couldn't believe how many times the other party was on the line when I went to make a call.....still, you did get to hear some interesting conversations! Lol.
Our next door neighbors had a party line when I was a kid. I was fascinated and amazed by it!
I don't remember it being much of a problem, but as a little kid I wasn't on the phone much. I think most people where I lived had party lines till the mid-60's. It was cheaper than having a private line.
