It Gets Better, #3

From The New Civil Rights Movement, via Bear Me Out:  seems there were at least 9 gay teens who killed themselves last month after being bullied.  I haven't taken the time to find confirmation in other sources, but here's the list posted over there:
Billy Lucas (15) September 9, 2010. Indiana

Cody J. Barker (17) September 13, 2010. Wisconsin

Seth Walsh (13) September 19, 2010. California

Tyler Clementi (18) September 22, 2010. New Jersey

Asher Brown (13) September 23, 2010. Texas

Harrison Chase Brown (15) September, 25 2010. Colorado

Raymond Chase (19) September 29, 2010. Rhode Island

Felix Sacco (17) September 29, 2010. Massachusetts

Caleb Nolt (14) September 30, 2010. Indiana

Of course, we know this stuff happens all the time among our little brothers and sisters, who are four times more likely to attempt suicide than other teens.  We must rally to fight this together as a community and protect our own, just as we did together during the AIDS crisis - don't wait for the straight world to do it.  WE are the ones we've been waiting for, ya know?

Change is here.  It's time to fix this evil system that hurts and destroys so many young people, straight as well as gay.  How could we abolish high school as we know it?  Must be a way.  Think on that, guys.

Meanwhile, here's some more wonderful videos your Head Trucker especially likes from the It Gets Better Project.  All kinds, all colors, all stripes and shapes and flavors:  don't ever diss the Rainbow Flag, guys.  It's ours for a damn good reason, and it's fucking beautiful - just like us.
