Living in a sexual relationship with a person of the same sex is forbidden in Scripture with terrifying clarity. 'Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God' (1 Corinthians 6:9–10). This means putting a child in the personal care of a same-sex couple would put the child’s soul at jeopardy along with the couple’s souls. The couple would be endorsed by the adoption, and thus their hell-bound pattern of life would be endorsed, implying that we don’t care if they go to hell, which would be unloving. And the child would be taught that a damning behavior is normal and acceptable.Oh, that good old terrifying clarity! So the gays are going straight to hell for all eternity. But as for the straight boys - oh honey, just reach out and touch his handsome face, why don't you. And think of all the good times. You'll get over it, like a good wife should.

You see how these Christianists are total, undiluted hypocrites? They stand on every single word of the Bible when it comes to teh gayz; but when it comes to themselves - and especially their pocketbooks - hell, they can't even remember the most basic teachings. And they just make shit up.
I seem to recall Jesus urging his followers to pay Caesar what was due to him - and never to confuse that with anything to do with God. I also seem to recall his saying quite clearly that only by giving away one's entire wealth to the poor could one enter the kingdom of heaven.

On Warren's statement, "I never take sides":One of Rick Warren's (and president George W. Bush's) longtime allies in Uganda, Martin Ssempe, is the author of a classic piece of minority-baiting legislation. Its details belong in the history of genocidal hatred . . . . This is an act of terror and murder against an already beleaguered minority, and Warren is an accessory to it. As a powerful figure in distributing AIDS funding in Uganda, he cannot bring himself to oppose a law that would condemn someone in a gay relationship to death, and imprison him or her for touching another human being, and inciting a wave of informing on family members and friends and acquaintances in order to terrify a sexual minority. This alleged man of God cannot speak out on this - except to protect his own p.r. His schtick of actually being the nice evangelical - a schtick that got him to Obama's inauguration - is a lie. If he cannot condemn this fascist act of violence against a tiny minority of vulnerable human beings, then his position in this struggle is clear enough. . . .
He lies. He has taken sides, whenever possible, to stigmatize, demonize and now physically threaten the lives of gay people in his own country and abroad. And his silence on this issue means the deaths of others. Warren needs to come out and condemn this law as evil, which it is. And to stop hiding his own enmeshment with the most virulent forms of fundamentalist hatred under the veil of media-savvy benevolence.
There have been almost a dozen studies on the topic. Going back to 1993, RAND did a study on the impact of openly gay and lesbian soldiers on unit cohesion. Their conclusion: no negative impact. Every scientific, credible study since then has come to the same conclusion. SLDN had hoped this president would offer leadership, not give in to some throwaway study or commission. The right approach would be a presidential working group that focuses solely on implementation and reports back to the president with recommendations within 90 days.Yeah, but don't hold your breath, guys. This topic is going nowhere fast, and that's a real pisser.
Ted Haggard and his wife give an interview to the CBS Early Show in advance of the HBO documentary, The Trials of Ted Haggard. I don't doubt that the guy has suffered and struggled since being outed in 2006 - but as is plainly obvious from watching this clip, neither he nor his wife is dealing with reality here; it's still a great big act, complete with painted-on smiles, to woo back the adoring crowds, if that's possible. "I am a mess" he says, "I don't fit in any of the boxes" - he's not straight, not bisexual, not gay - just "heterosexual with complications." I'm not making this up, guys. But even so, "I'm fine, we're fine, everything's fine" now.
Right. I guess time will tell about that, won't it? You see what a terrible thing the closet does to people's heads. He's still trapped in that self-loathing, deep-denial mindset that some of us were stuck in at age 16 or so - but grew out of and got past. He's still there. I feel sorry for him on one level; but totally, nauseatingly disgusted on another, because this confused, conflicted, and ultimately homophobic message he's putting out has caused and will cause a lot of anguish to other young gay people's lives.

Meanwhile you can check out this clip from Mike Signorile's recent radio interview with Mike Jones, the Denver escort who outed Haggard in 2006, talking about the other guys who are now coming forward and saying they had sexual relationships with the preacher. You remember that Haggard originally denied even knowing Mike Jones, or ever having had gay sex.
Now just in the last week we learn about these other two young guys, one of whom the church paid a six-figure sum to keep quiet about the matter. I wonder how many more will come out with further revelations about their ex-preacher. The truth will out eventually, it always does.

They are American citizens who are following 5,000 years of human history and the belief of every major people and religion: Marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman. Their pro-Prop. 8 votes weren't intended to deprive any group of its rights; they were safeguarding their honest convictions regarding the boundaries of marriage.

For those keeping track of those so in love with "traditional marriage", Norris is twice-married with five kids, including a bastard child from an adulterous affair. His present wife, 28 years younger than Norris, is also younger than two of his children.
