How to Dial a Telephone
A lost art - but here's all you need to know, courtesy of Ma Bell, 1954:

I'm old enough to remember "party lines." You would share your phone number with others.
It was years before my parents would break down and get touch tone phones. I think they had to.
We had a party line too when I was little - private lines were expensive.
