Economics is like religion: people have their own beliefs, some more sophisticated than others, some more fanatical, and various interpretations of the scriptures written by the economists (their prophets).
Too bad there is no real science to precisely calculate the complexities of the economy and to accurately predict the outcome of a certain action or inaction.
Until a Nate Silver applies some logic to it all, the idiots in congress can argue their beliefs till doomsday - which may in fact be soon.
Unfortunately, I never had a class in economics, so it's all over my head. But I do know the Republicans would gladly ruin the country rather than spend 10 cents more in taxes; they've already proven that. So I have to go with the best Democratic advice.
