I'm With Stupid!

Update, 4:15 p.m.: Stephen Colbert celebrates the return of "the original material girl." Too funny:

Oh and Palin, addressing an Oklahoma rally in biker-girl chic says Obama is the reason her drunken son punched his girlfriend in the face, kicked her, and threatened to blow his own head off with an AR-15. Because that "weak-kneed Capitulator-in-Chief" "treats illegal immigrants better than returning veterans." Seriously, she said this:

Palin was the "official Brigade Mom" for Track's unit in Iraq when he served there in 2008, under George Bush.

Okay, So Just WHO Is Destroying the Traditional Family?

Breaking news out of Alaska: Noted Christianist, TV dancer, and unwed mother Bristol Palin is pregnant - and unmarried - again. And her righteous, God-fearing, Bible-believing, gun-toting, born-again mother says that is just oh-so-wonderful, and best of all, God is totally fine with it, too. Heck yeah! Jump ahead to the 3:20 mark:

Meanwhile in Ireland, that country's first same-sex marriage took place today as Cormac Gollogly and Richard Dowling, a barrister and a banker, tied the knot in County Tipperary, after 12 years as a committed couple, as reported by the Irish Times. All good wishes to the happy couple.

I could say more, but I'll let you fellas judge for yourselves which story is praiseworthy and which is just total bullshit.

Thirty-two!

Latest marriage map from Freedom to Marry - click to enlarge.

A flurry of legal developments happened yesterday, so now there are 32 states where people like us can marry: hit the links to read up on the mind-boggling good news.

Alaska

Arizona

Wyoming

Federal government

And although this is not my idea at all of a proper do, I still had to get my hanky out - Kevin Patterson and David Larance have the first gay wedding in Arizona:

And here's a great piece on Karen and Nelda, the lesbian couple you see in the video above, who have been waiting since the freakin' Eisenhower Administration for the right to marry!

Finally, a sweet pic from Idaho taken earlier this week:

Marriage News Watch, 10/13/14

Matt Baume of the American Foundation for Equal Rights reports:

And we can add Alaska to the list - as one headline put it, now Putin can see gay marriages from his house!

Yesterday afternoon, U. S. District Judge Timothy Burgess (appointed by Bush in 2005) struck down Alaska's marriage ban as being an unconstitutional deprivation of due process and equal protection under the Fourteenth Amendment - as most other courts have done.  Full text of the ruling here.  Governor Sean Parnell vowed to appeal the decision, but since Alaska is covered by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, which last week gave marriage equality to Idaho and Nevada - the governor is just talking out his ass.

Alaska is thus the 30th state where gays can marry. Hoo-wee, boys, now we're getting somewhere! Photos of the celebration at Mad Mindy's bar in Anchorage last night here.

Reports are that Vital Statistics offices will be issuing licenses from 8 a.m. today; however, Alaska has a three-day waiting period, so the first weddings won't likely happen until Thursday.

No word yet on how this is affecting Sarah Palin's heterosexual marriage.

Also, if you're up for it - yesterday, Prop 8 attorney Ted Olson and professional bigot Tony Perkins debated the issue on Fox News Sunday - as if there's anything left to debate. Olson made some brilliant points, while Perkins had only the same tired old crap and lies to sputter.

And an article I missed last Monday - which seems such a long time ago now; ELEVEN states have gained marriage equality since then - on the cool, cagey way the Supreme Court may have granted marriage equality to the whole country without having to make a dramatic ruling. Read Amy Davidson's take in the New Yorker.

Marriage News Watch, 5/5/14

Matt Baume of the American Foundation for Equal Rights reports:

More about the Alaska Supreme Court decision here.

A video of retired Army colonel Ed Cuyler and wife Robbie speaking out in support of their lesbian daughter and daughter-in-law who are raising a family in Oklahoma:

And sadly, recently retired Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson of New Hampshire, whose consecration in 2003 rocked and split the Anglican Communion, has announced that he and his huband, Mark Andrew, are divorcing. The couple have been together for over 25 years.  Read Bishop Robinson's announcement in the Daily Beast here.

Queering the Last Frontier

From Bent Alaska:

Levi, honey, we love the photos and interviews, but what's all this talk of never seeing any gays in Wasilla? We're here, we're queer, and we live on the Last Frontier, even in Wasilla.

Perhaps you don't think you've seen us because you don't know what we look like: We look like Alaskans. Really.

Did you expect us to shop at the Wasilla Fred Meyer looking like Adam Lambert at the AMA's? Did you expect us to kiss in line at Home Depot? We have strong survival instincts and know better than to look, act, or talk queeny in a town like this. You might not know we're gay, but I'm sure you've seen us.
I can relate.  We gay Texans have strong survival instincts, too.  We look like Texans.  Really.

And hell, I hardly ever kiss anybody at Home Depot.

World Beard and Mustache Championships

Representing Alaska, Texas, Alaska,
Pennsylvania, and Florida, respectively

Gotta love it. These handsome guys give us great incentive, over and above patriotism, to root for Team USA at the World Beard and Mustache Championships, being held today in Anchorage, Alaska.

In your Head Trucker's opinion, a man's looks just aren't complete without some hair on his face. The more, the better, as a general rule. And if I ruled the world . . . oh well, never mind.

BTW, while we're on the subject of facial hair, here's an interesting gizmo for the goateed guy who has everything:
