Yesterday's video sermon from Father David, a retired Episcopal priest in Hawaii. This is a brilliant meditation on rituals, mythology, life, death, and resurrection. Well worth a listen if you care about spiritual things.
Just able to get to this today. Sorry to say I did not find the sermon inspiring. It seemed so typical of Anglo/Catholic preachers who toss a theological word salad and serve up an indigestible appetizer. I never got the meal.
I know what you mean - sometimes sermons can be so vague and mealy mouthed, it's a waste of time and breath.
But we liked this one. It's a poetic meditation full of metaphors about ineffable things. M.P.. at once likened what Fr. David was saying to our dinners served on a beautifully set table - for Candlemas, with a dozen red and white candles, all sizes and shapes. (I wish he could send pics so I could post - it was very pretty.) Our dinners, with wine and bread, are our liturgy and communion.
But a chacun son gout! If you want something you can really sink your teeth into, try Baptist Burgers or Tasty Tofu maybe. Grin.
Comments are welcome, but please note: this is not a public forum but my personal blog, which nobody is forced to read. You don't like what I write, go find a blog you do like; there are millions of others to choose from. Or write your own.
Polite disagreement is one thing, but rudeness will be deleted without hesitation.
