The House of the Future

What, no plastic shower curtain?

Monsanto's House of the Future, as exhibited in Disneyland's Tomorrowland in 1957. Gee, wouldn't it be wonderful to live in a house with plastic walls, plastic floors, plastic windows, even plastic dishes? Peach-o keen-o! I don't know why it didn't catch on.

Righto, we've got the plastic money, all we need now are some plastic people and we're all set, there must be some in Hollywood!

The plastic people were in the movie, too, all perfectly formed, superficially attractive, and according to specification.

I never did get to see that, and I grew up maybe 10 miles from Disneyland. The house of plastic was gone by the time I started visiting the House of Mouse.

Kind of like an RV with slide-outs. Our RV bathroom is pretty much all plastic.
