It’s called a Sod’s Opera (sic) performed by a ship’d crew (all ranks) at Christmas time or any convenient event, such as the end of a patrol or cruise. Something akin to a theatrical pantomime. It’s all rather British, and keeps the men occupied rather than mutinous. Grin!

Hmmm. So this is a thing in Blighty? Well I declare. I suppose Nelson can go on resting in peace now.
