From Queensland comes this charming vignette of Dan and Miki, two Australian cowboys living their dream life together in what looks a lot like the Texas Hill Country:
I sometimes wonder how often a similar pairing happened in the past: cowboy partners who kept their relationship a secret or simply didn't allow it to be overtly sexual.
Not sure what you mean by "overtly" in that sentence, but there were occasionally rural couples in all parts of the country who managed to live together without of course ever publicly acknowledging there was anything romantic or sexual about their relationship - which was of course both a crime and the worst of all sins, hence unmentionable. See Jonathan Katz, Gay American History for scattered examples.

Polite disagreement is one thing, but rudeness will be deleted without hesitation.
